One of the great things about spending time on the bus is the unexpected and out of context sights that come by periodically. This "restaurant bus" was parked in Sierra Gorda. A little generator outside, the front section of the cabin fitted with a few small tables, and the rear a kitchen. Why wait for customers to come to you, when you can meet demand wherever it arises. Clearly the recent pop-up eatery phenomenon has deep roots.

Listed bits and pieces of note...

  • Workflowy's simple brilliance
  • Claudio Lucero (very privileged to hear the stories of Everest)
  • Norman Doidge's wonderful opening into neuroplasticity

  • Some inspiring new tunes from Alt-J, Godspeed, Clare Bowditch, Something for Kate, The Mark of Cain, and Chet Faker
  • Getting to the positives of Kaizen, positive verification and problem solving and Jim Collins
  • 360, a film of reserved tension and great pacing
  • International rugby as the challenge of gentlemen
  • Murakami, Gibson and Banks
  • Options and possibilities
After buying some new Godspeed You! Black Emperor I came across a like-minded blog called The Lefort Report focussed on quality US singer songwriter work with some wonderful links.

Inspired to dredge the vault and listen to some classics, I'm immersed in Those Bastard Souls Debt and Departure, Superchunk's No Pocky for Kitty, and Bob Mould's first two solo discs Black Sheets of Rain and Workbook.

With a broken leg keeping the kids housebound, a travelling wife, and heat outside to boil eggs, it's a calming way to pass the afternoon, reeling in the years one note at a time.

Pondering the point at which decisions have milder ramifications and freedom exists to do what is right and what is motivating.

The weight of responsibility that arrives with the liberation is heavy. Excuses are hollow.

Band of Horses providing the soundtrack.

Great gig last Monday at Fort Canning - Snow Patrol's first show in Singapore. Big crowd, cheerful anthems, perfect sound, heat and a focussed entertainer... Sure it's pop, but it feels so right. OPened with Eyes Open and closed with Just Say Yes. Everything in between played with precision.

One of the greatest moments...

Another piece until I get a photo to do it justice.

Immersion box sets Wish You Were Here, Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall. Incredible detail and re-mastered sound to die for. Bring the volume, bring the time.
