Miami and back in a week. Recognition of geographic location sometimes only occurs when you visit... Hispanic, warm, breezy, flat, wealthy, white, clean,  aquatic. Proximity to Cuba and detachment from the rest of the US is something both valuable and separate.

Music:
Band of Horses - Infinite Arms
Interpol - Interpol
Kele - The Boxer
The Acorn - No Ghost
The National - High Violet
The Chemical Brothers - Further
Broken Bells - Broken Bells
Broken Social Scene - Forgiveness Rock Record
Phil Selway - Familial
Ray LaMontagne & The Pariah Dogs

Movies galore - The Machinist (dark and menacing), Inception (as good as it promised to be), Blades of Glory (ridiculous, childish and very very funny), and a rerun of Batman Begins.

And Keith, who sat beside me on the plane from Miami to Newark was extremely agitated about the return of his $40,000 deposit on the phone to a call centre before we took off. In between bouts of sighing, repetition, finger-tapping and rising intonation, he eventually rang off, and speed-read USA Today and the WSJ in about 90 seconds. Sampling the local merchandise?
